Alfonso Fraile

Sevilla 1930

Alfonso Fraile studied at the “San Fernando” Fine Arts Superior School of Madrid. His first works of painting could be considered as late Cubism or Postcubism, though he increasingly evolves towards Abstraction. Later on, he sets up the group “Nuevo Espacialismo” where he keeps a trend of new figurative art with elements taken from the abstraction and the informalism. Some of the points that characterise his work are his great interest in the human figure and his open treatment of space, which makes his pictorial motifs look isolated or lost. During his career, he received different awards and organised numerous exhibitions inside and outside our country.
