Úbeda 1976

Pepa Salas graduated in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts, and later obtained her PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Granada. Through her works, in a figurative style, she tries to evoke a dreamlike reality, which is introduced into painting through an abstract element, like a strip or line of colour, which pops into the composition to give it a new meaning. That colour abstraction is the representation of the ideas and thoughts of the characters, as a synesthetic perception that is shared with the viewer. The memories become colours, like the aromas and sounds, something that clashes with the set of her painting, where the characters always appear in black and white. Pepa Salas has held numerous exhibitions nationally and internationally, participating in contemporary art fairs such as Positions Berlin Art Fair, Kunstsalon Perchtoldsdorf in Vienna or Art Madrid.
