The work of Marc Quintana is a reflection captured in charcoal on the dehumanisation of the individual in a society increasingly hyperconnected. The hidden, shaded faces lose their identity in a nebula of powder that surrounds the character and melts it with the sphere. Figures turn to be, however, familiar and recognisable, in day-to-day attitude, walking to work, wearing suits… all of them placed in an urban environment that conveys anonymity and immediacy.
Marc Quintana feeds himself of classic references that he incorporates to his pieces on abstract backgrounds. We could almost recognise in his artworks some 40’s-film characters, hiding their faces underneath the hat’s brim.
