José Ramón Lozano
Works in this exhibition
Without leaving aside the portrait, José Ramón Lozano addresses "Vanitas" in a new pictorial stage in which the subgenre of still life or dead nature takes the leading role in his paintings.
Making reference to the ephemeral and the fragility of existence, we see the flowers portrayed as objects that embody the passing and the insignificance of both human and objects that surround us.
Through the Vanitas vanitatum omnia vanitas (everything is vanity), we understand and see in these new series presented by the artist from Ceuta, that the flowers are a symbol of carnality being lost, vanished and impoverished. However, the subject refers to all those focused on cultivating a spiritual life away from the undergrowth of worldly things, that will end up growing and nourishing the spirit obtaining a full life.
